Abstract

In 2018 the Quinhagak dance group came together to write a song about the Nunalleq archaeological excavations to be performed at the celebration of the new culture centre which opened in the village on August 11th.

A film by Alice Watterson with narration from Larissa and Lonny Strunk of Quinhagak and Chuna McIntyre of Eek. Special thanks to Crystal Carter and the Quinhagak Dance Group for their talent, organisation and camera skills on site, and of course to the archaeologists for their time and enthusiasm. The mask used during the performance was kindly carved by Ben Charles of Bethel.

This video was made as part of the Nunalleq Education Pack for local schools to be released in 2019...Find out more here: nunalleq.wordpress.com/2018/07/28/nunalleq-stories-from-the-village-of-our-ancestors/
