note = "The principal output of this project is an Audio CD with an accompanying artist's book. It researches the point where image and sound meet a creative process of memory and sense of place. The piece brings together a richly textured audio work (Zoe Irvine) with a visual narrative (Helen Douglas) in a double CD release with a concertina artist's book (ISBN 09523284 61). The artists collected sound and visual material for the work at Illiers in France, the village on which Marcel Proust based his fictional village Combray in his work {\textquoteleft}In Search of Lost Time{\textquoteright}. In 1972 the village, in something of a concession to tourism, decided to rename itself in honour of this. They also renamed some streets and made a number of other changes to make the real village more like the fictional one. It was this changing of fact to fiction to fact again that was investigated sonically and visually. A further exploration of landscape and sound resulted in the creation of a sound walk version of the work for the Berwick Media Arts Festival in 2005. The project (CD/book) was launched at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. The Audio work has been played on Resonance FM. Irvine was invited to present the composition at the Radiophonic Festival in Brussels on 28 October 2007. The initial edition of 700 has now sold out and a second edition of 500 has been created. The work is available through artist book and sound art venues such as Printed Matter in New York, Art Metropole in Toronto. coverage.spatial: ACSR Radiophonic Festival, Brussels, 25th - 28th October 2007 Crossing Borders - Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, Berwick, 16th – 25th September 2005 dc.format: 2 audio CD's accompanying book dc.type: Audio Recording Audio Recording Audio Recording Broken URL: http://emily.supremeserver23.com/programme/art-08_zoe-irvine.php (20/05/2014)",
