Integrating research, teaching and external engagement through curatorial practice

    Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

    Abstract

In this presentation I reflected on developing my role as Baxter Fellow in Curatorial Practice at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design through expanding research and teaching excellence in the field of contemporary curating. I introduced Curating Living Archives, a RSE Arts & Humanities Research Award funded project that I initiated and delivered as PI between 2020-2021 to disseminate the school’s unique time-based art collections (such as performance and video art) through artists’ commissions, exhibitions workshops, and publications. I then discussed the Upskilling in Contemporary Curating in Art & Design module that I have developed and delivered in the last two years providing industry-focused professional development while working towards establishing a cross-school MFA in Curation and Cultural Production. I concluded with summarising how I used the Baxter Fellowship to contribute to leadership within and beyond the School and to build interdisciplinary professional networks in Scotland, wider UK and internationally.
