The aim of this series is to examine the life sciences in the context of clinical nursing practice and explore the basic structure and function of the human body. The series will examine different aspects of anatomy and physiology, assisting the reader to make essential links between theory and practice. This article introduces the series, describes some basic anatomical terms and outlines the concept of homeostasis and feedback systems.
