Part of a group show, Monument, co-curated by the Frac Basse-Normandie, the Museum of Fine Arts of Calais and the Sainsbury Center for Visual Arts in Norwich. The Basse-Normandie Regional Contemporary Art Fund ( FRAC-BN ) is the Regional Fund for Contemporary Art in the Basse-Normandie region . Created in 1983 , it has its headquarters in Caen and has 979 works by 393 artists 1 .
From the press release: ‘The monument as a reminder of a lost, forgotten utopia. The exhibition also questions more widely contemporary society in which new forms of hypothetical "monuments", emblematic traces of what today constitutes memory. As demonstrated by the artists in the exhibition at the Frac Basse-Normandie, the monument is no longer a commemorative architecture but something that evolves symbolically within a new ideology’.
