    Abstract

One-dimensional models of piezoelectric transducers allow the rapid prediction of performance as well as assisting an understanding of transducer behaviour. This chapter initially describes the basis of transducer behaviour using wave equations. A description of Mason’s model follows, and the KLM equivalent circuit and the linear systems model are also presented. Illustrative results are provided, with comparisons with results from finite element modelling, to demonstrate the capabilities and limitations of the one-dimensional approach to modelling.
