Abstract
RAPE & PROSECUTION // COMMENTARY – “Myths about rape – that it happens between strangers in shady alleys and that the victim fights back – do not reflect reality and distort the public debate. Now that Denmark has finally adopted a consent-based rape law, which the country committed to by international convention, society must do away with the myths, because they can make it difficult to prosecute rape.” This call comes from the British lawyer and advisor on the drafting of the Danish Consent Act, Kirsty Brimelow, and Jacques Hartmann, a specialist in human rights.
