    Abstract

This study outlines the useful biopolymer composites, using additive manufacturing (AM) techniques to print biodegradable materials for bone implant. It examined the history of various materials, methodology of composite formations, and steps in the implementation of AM technology with several processes/techniques for bone implants. The design evaluation of the active components, methods, and efficacy of polymer matrix particles that are common in AM compounds for ceramic and polymer matrix, as well as their various applications in implant, were extensively reported. This review also gives an overview of 3D printing techniques for the manufacturing of various polymer composite materials, properties, performances of 3D-printed polymer matrix composite parts, and their applications in the fields of biomedical engineering. The critical limitations of the polymer matrix are identified and presented to motivate more future and cutting-edge research on 3D printing.
