    Abstract

A 24-year-old woman presenting with depressed mood and panic symptoms failed to respond to treatment with clomipramine. Neuropsychological and electroencephalographic evaluation suggested localized right hemisphere dysfunction. Initiation of treatment with carbamazapine resulted in rapid clinical improvement and amelioration of neuropsychological deficits. The relationship between panic symptoms and temporal lobe electrophysiological disturbance is discussed.
