Abstract

A newsletter created by MRC PPU PhD students Rose Francis and Chloe Flitton is helping to make Parkinson’s research more accessible to those with lived experience of Parkinson’s.

Each issue of "Parkinson’s: Beyond the Bench" is co-produced with members of the Dundee Research Interest Group (DRIG) and colleagues across the MRC PPU, including Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Consultant Sarah Patrick.
Issue 1 explains what researchers mean when talking about proteins, kinases, and phosphorylation in Parkinson's research. It also explores the importance of a protein called LRRK2 in Parkinson's, and features a technical spotlight on a technique called Western Blotting.
