Abstract
A study comparing the elasto-plastic load response of OPC and PFA concretes was undertaken using temperature-matched curing (TMC) to simulate in situ conditions. For a given strength, the concrete type and curing regime had no significant effect on the modulus of elasticity. However, PFA concrete showed a more ductile failure than the corresponding OPC concrete. In addition, higher plastic strain energies for the PFA concretes indicated better post failure toughness than that of the OPC concretes.
