Abstract

The impact of plastic usage poses major challenges both locally and globally. This study is rooted in a place-based approach to identifying design solutions for local civic challenges and aims to strengthen and maintain the University of Dundee’s strategic relationship with V&A Dundee. The project aimed to to connect more deeply with the local student population and grow audiences by offering the public the opportunity to see the design process live in a museum setting. Moreover, the project helped to generate positive reactions to the plastic crises and encouraged conversations and debates to take place more widely across the city and beyond.
This short film documents the Design Thinking process, as fast paced innovation, blending techniques like idea generation, prototyping and open-source design.
