Abstract

COX-2 inhibitors are anti-inflammatory analgesics that act by specific inhibition of one of the isoenzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis, cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2). These drugs were developed as an alternative to traditional NSAIDs ( NSAIDs, Survey), with the aim of maintaining or improving efficacy and reducing adverse effects.
