N2 - After many years of effort with only modest result, the last 5 years has seen a tremendous surge in our understanding of the genetics of diabetes. This review will focus on the therapeutic implications of diagnosing monogenic diabetes and the recent advances in type 1 and type 2 diabetes genetics following the development of Genome Wide Association studies.
