Abstract
The chapter is divided into three parts. The first contextualise drug trafficking in Rio de Janeiro City, Brazil presenting the relationship between its dynamics and the dynamics of the city. The second presents the experience of the Escape Routes program, an initiative of the Observatory of Favelas where it was possible to establish a systematic knowledge base on the involvement of children, adolescents and young people in drug trafficking, as well as to identify possible paths for prevention and creation of alternatives for these groups. Finally, we present a more focused analysis regarding the relationship that the young people linked to the trafficking networks maintain with the universe of illicit drugs. We conclude with some recommendations focused in integrative policies to address the scope of the questions brought.
