Abstract

Exhibition Venue: Green Gallery, Dundee Botanic Gardens, Dundee, Scotland
Exhibition Dates: 20 September 2024 - 4 October 2024

Rhizoma is an immersive multimedia installation commissioned by Dundee Botanical Gardens exploring what is it to be human in an increasingly urbanised world and considers how we connect as humans and with the natural environment.

Rhizoma uses Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, music, poetry, written narrative and experimental film to offer an embodied and immersive experience of what is to become ecological.

Rhizoma is about hope and full potentialities of the present and of becoming. Rhizoma is the tracings of our bodily processes beyond and below our perceivable scales.

Rhizoma is a rooty journey. It is a way to sense and interact with our bodies through our rooty mechanics. Rhizoma is a commitment and not an ideology. Rhizoma is a flicker of reality, flicker of lights, sounds and other intensities. Rhizoma is a thin thread that you can't hold as it will immediately fail you. It does allow growth in, around and through it. That's about it.
Art is a rhizomic language that is shared between humans and others. First step towards a sustainable future is through inclusivity, queer energy and deep listening. Art offers a safe container to sense differently together and alone, inwards and outwards.
