Abstract

I've been taking repeat panoramas from the viewpoint above Skaftafellsjökull since 2007. It's difficult to capture the scale, so this year I took some telephoto images and combined them with the panoramas to create this animated sequence. At a spot that was under ice 10 years ago, visitors now stand at the edge of a newly formed lagoon. The glacier front is 2km wide - a colossal chunk of landscape has disappeared since my first visit.
