Abstract
Laboratory experiments are described in which horizontal and vertical temperature gradients are measured simultaneously in a heated rotating fluid annulus. The dependence of these quantities upon the rotation rate of the annulus and the magnitude of the externally impressed temperature difference is investigated and the relationship of the results to previous work is discussed.
