Abstract

It is suggested that persons arrested and incarcerated for sexual offences are in some ways different than other inmates. This paper examines various characteristics of sexual offenders in an Irish prison and determines if perceived differences are statistically valid using some of the techniques available through offender profiling. Statistical differences (? ; P = 0.01) in some characteristics were found between other prisoners and sexual offenders.
