    Abstract

The Annual Report on the implementation of the Water Environment and Water Services to the Scottish Parliament outlined the key activities including a draft river basin management plans. The report emphasized the increased funding for both SEPA and Scottish water (SW), which will also be required under the Flood Risk Management Act. Certain environmental standards and conditions in implementation of Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC (WFD) are established in Scotland with an aim to reissue a single set of directions along with regulations implementing the transportation. The new directive also set quality standards for just two sets of parameters to identify threshold values and other substances that are likely to compromise the WFD objective of good quality. The Directive are amended to provide for sewage flooding that may be exempted under the Directive where duties and functions include analysis of flood with an estimated volume of sewage and other specific regulations.
