Abstract

In this work a novel tool which can measure full stress tensor during 1D compression of chalk is presented. Such loading path approximates the conditions experienced ahead of close-ended piles during installation. Design of the new apparatus joint to preliminary test results are presented. These are followed by a brief note on its implementation in design practice.
