Abstract

The impact on human rights impact of the tech giants is range widely. From the collection and use of personal information to the facilitation and spread of misinformation online.

Regulators face difficulties in addressing such risks and securing compliance by powerful tech giants whose activities are dynamic, diversified, transnational and technically complex.

The report highlights selected human rights risks relevant to the tech giants and their platforms.

The content of the report is aimed at the tech boards of the tech giants and serves as a foundational building block for investor interaction with tech giants on human rights.

The investor expectations for tech giants on human rights have been developed by the Swedish Council on Ethics of the Swedish national pension funds. The analysis has been developed in collaboration with the the Danish Institute of Human Rights.
