N2 - The Archive of Rag and Bone is a research collection comprised of objects, including jewellery, that investigate the overlap of jewellery, memory and compassion.
The methodology combines documentation and layered portraiture of subjects with traumatic injuries. The project uses an innovative scope to explore bodily self-authority through photography, garments, jewelry and other objects. It has led audiences to insights about their own vulnerabilities, scars and connections through ongoing exhibitions, writing, panels and lectures.
In 2025, Integumenta: Jewellery and Folios from the The Archive of Rag and Bone will be a solo exhibition at The Jewelry Library, NY during New York City Jewelry Week. In 2024, selections were shown during Dutch Design Week. The 2021 exhibition at Baltimore Jewelry Center Integumentum was accompanied by public presentations for the Baltimore audience as well as a global online discussion with writers, artists and thinkers in collaboration with Munich Jewellery Week. The solo exhibition was documented in Current Obsession magazine for MJW. In this on-going study, between 2016-2018, Beeler collaborated as Research Associate with the Materialising Memories Research Programme at the University of Technology, Sydney. Academic artist lectures on the work have been delivered to Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, California State University Fullerton, Smitten Forum Symposium, SUNY-New Paltz, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. Essays featuring Archive of Rag and Bone have been written for publication by Sasha Nixon writer, curator, designer at the Museum of Art and Design, NY and Wendy Steiner, professor emeritus University of Pennsylvania. The project was twice short-listed for the Susan Beech Mid-Career Grant (2017, 2021) and acknowledged with two Professional Artist Fellowship from the Arts Council of Long Beach.
Jewellery as Mnemonic Object for Mitigating Trauma and Uncertainty is the current text based outcome to be published in Metalsmith (US) 2025 and the prequel to a Phd dissertation.
