note = "This commission was a set design for Glasgow playwright Peter Arnotts{\textquoteright} Victorian drama at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh (25/4/03 -17/5/03). Directed by Kenny Ireland, this was a large-scale project, involving a cast of twelve actors and twenty-three scene changes. The set design utilises revolving elements, video and back projected photography to create a range of rapid scene changes depicting Victorian Edinburgh in its various social strata. Elements of early bellows cameras are alluded to in the design, (building upon Colvin's research into early photographic technology), referencing the play's narrative and the notion of Edinburgh as witness and recorder of historical events. The set design was cited in articles and reviews in: the Scotsman 30/4/03, 12/5/03; The List 8-22/5/03; The Stage 15/5/03; Metro 22/4/03 etc. The set design was awarded the inaugural {\textquoteleft}Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland{\textquoteright} (Set Design, 2003). {\textquoteleft}The Breathing House{\textquoteright} won the TMA Award for Best New British Play of 2003 and BBC writersroom best new play award.
