Abstract
Tide is a digital animated interactive drawing that represents the tidal movement around the whole of the UK and follows the tide in real time. The viewer can zoom in and see what the tide is doing in different locations, or accelerate the movement, or skip forward to see when high tide will be on another day.
Commissioned for the National Trust’s celebration of Project Neptune, and their custodianship of coastal landscape. In collaboration with Sound UK, the National Trust invited sound artist Martyn Ware (founder of The Human League and Heaven 17), poet Owen Sheers and visual artist Tania Kovats to take inspiration from their Neptune Coastline Campaign to acquire and care for coastal land, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015.
