Abstract
This is a short essay to introduce Graham Fagen's exhibit The Slave's Lament which was originally produced for Scotland + Venice 2015, commissioned and curated by Hospitalfield, Arbroath.
Published by the Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland to accompany the exhibitions, Graham Fagen, The Slave's Lament, from 20 May to 29 October and Douglas Gordon, Black Burns, from 29 July to 29 October, at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh 2017. It includes original poems from Jackie Kay.
