Abstract
Led by our newly refreshed strategy, 2024 saw us focusing on ways to further embed public engagement within the School’s practices to create a sustainable way of working. It was important to us to ensure more researchers integrated public engagement costs into their grant proposals to further enhance the work we’re able to do and allow them to communicate their research more widely. We reviewed and redeveloped resources to support researchers in their applications and worked with colleagues in finance and research support to ensure correct procedures are followed.
Our approach to public engagement continues to evolve, addressing diverse audiences with innovative methods. In 2024, we prioritized connecting with patient groups, their carers, and other stakeholders, to reflect our expanding research portfolio. The growth of the Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Network, co-led by staff from Life Sciences, has been a highlight, fostering collaboration across the University. Partnering with PPI experts in the School of Medicine, we expanded support for researchers, further amplifying our impact.
