Abstract
This is a creative response to the themes of the conference ‘Environmental Histories of Scotland: Mapping Out A Way Forward’, held at the university of Stirling, 16-17 April 2024. It is based on my research into the changing social memory of William Wallace within Scotland's nationalist movement since the mid 19th century and the environmental history of Scotland since that time.
